Summer: All summer staff have been hired. There were very few openings because of the number of staff that decided to return from last year. The first registration was held on Saturday, May 9. We had 976 children register for the summer programs. Our revenue totaled $37,440. We also had an additional 44 children register for the All Day Program. The revenue from the All Day totalled $11,510. Weeks 6 and 7 have reached maximum capacity with 65 children registered per week. The next registration at the Senior Center is Sunday, May 17.
Pool: The pool is scheduled to open weekends only beginning Saturday, June 6 from noon to 5:00 p.m. We will also be opening the pool in the afternoons while school is still in session. June 22, 23, and 24 the pool will be open from 3:00-7:15. (***see attached memo concerning splash parties***). Pool will be closed Thursday, June 25 to accomodate the fifth grade splash parties. Friday at 1:00 p.m. the pool will officially open for the season.
There is a bubble in the gunite in the family pool. A restoration specialist from South Shore Gunite is scheduled to come Wednesday to take a look at this. We hope to have it repaired prior to filling the pool before the June 6th opening.
Miscellaneous: I included a copy of the correspondence from a Mountview student regarding the desire to construct a skateboard park in Holden.
A new swing set has been ordered to replace the one at Winthrop Park that was damaged in the December storm.
Mayo Before/After School Programs needs to be relicensed. I have been putting all the paperwork together in preparation for the state licensor's visit in June.
The next Recreation Committee meeting will be held on September 8, 2009 @ 7:00 p.m., at the Starbard Building.
